Jacob "Ferbie" W. Steele

Jacob “Ferbie” W. Steele, 29, of Geneseo passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home from an unexpected medical issue. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jacob Steele Memorial Fund to be distributed amongst local charities.

Jacob “Ferbie” Steele was born in Geneseo, IL on August 17, 1995, the son of Robert and Susan (Nordstrom) Steele. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 2014. He was employed at Weber Beef as a farm hand.  Ferbie had a love for pick up trucks and tractors. He enjoyed bringing them home and finding ways to fix them up. Ferbie also liked attending the county fair and spent many years showing pigs competitively. Jacob loved his family and friends. He was always spending time with them whenever he could.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents Robert and Susan of Geneseo, IL; grandma, Wynona Steele of Atkinson, IL; brother, John (Kelsey) Steele of Atkinson, IL; niece, Claire Steele; nephew, Judd Steele; aunts and uncles; Linda (Paul) Haught, Mark Nordstrom, James (Chris) Nordstrom; Carolyn (Miachel Sr.) Kerschieter, and Lisa Nordstrom; cousins; Ken Waechter, Rick Waechter, Shane Nordstrom, Jenica Scheib, Brenden Nordstrom, Jamisen Nordstrom, Chance Nordstrom, Jarron Nordstrom, Miachel Kerschieter Jr., Matthew Kerschieter; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents; Ralph and Mary Nordstrom; paternal grandfather William Steele.
