James H. Boomer

James H. Boomer, 88, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on June 20, 2025.  A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Jim was born on January 5, 1937, in Colona, IL, the son of Lester and Helen (Breese) Boomer. He graduated high school in Mesa, AZ, and joined the United States Navy and served as an electronics technician for 9 years. Jim returned to Geneseo where he was a contractor for many years and built homes throughout the community.  He then went to work for Lohman Brothers and later Lohman Companies. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his granddaughters, and taking “Archie” and “Tango” to the dog park.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughter, Sabrina (Preston) Smith of Silvis, sister, Donna Jeffers of Michigan, and granddaughters, Bridgette and Vivian Smith.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Helen Boomer, sisters; Dorothy Young, Olive Norris, Phyllis Cox, Mary Bridges, and Janet Steinwinder, brothers; Richard, John and Michael Boomer.
