James Dewey Greene

James Dewey Greene, 75, of Peoria, formerly of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society – Geneseo, 14606 Roos Hill Road, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

James was born April 15, 1945, the son of Dewey and Lauretta (Johnson) Greene, in Geneseo, IL.  He graduated from Geneseo High School and then obtained an associate degree from Black Hawk College in computer drafting.  He proudly served in the United Stated Army and was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam conflict.  James was employed as a CAD design engineer for a manufacturing company.  He loved comedy - always telling jokes, was an avid reader, volunteered in the community, helped build New Life Church – Geneseo, and enjoyed woodworking – especially making homemade toys for the grandchildren.  His greatest joy was his family and he loved being a grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Lauretta Greene; children, Brian (Amanda) Greene, Geneseo, IL, Lucas Greene, Peoria, IL, and Erin (Dean) Dolieslagler, Davenport, IA; ten grandchildren, sister, Sharon Nourse, Coal Valley, IL; and brother, John Greene, Dallas, TX.

James was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Greene.
