James "Jim" D. Rahn

James “Jim” D. Rahn, 88, of rural Atkinson, passed away on July 27, 2022, at Hillcrest Home-Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church- Geneseo with Reverend Timothy Nerud officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory-Geneseo Chapel and 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Jim’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Jim was born on June 5, 1934, in Geneseo the son of Elmer and Esther (Kohnert) Rahn. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School and was united in marriage to Donna Yarger on May 9, 1954, in Kewanee, IL. She preceded him in death in 2012. Jim was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and owned and operated his farms for most of his life. Jim and Donna enjoyed bingo, playing cards, traveling to Arizona for the winter, and spending time with the grandchildren.

Survivors include his children; Kathy (Kevin) Remick of Cambridge, IL, Cindy (Jim) Bishop of Alexis, IL, Dennis (Gigi) Rahn of Lena, IL; grandchildren; Nicholas Sheehy, Angela (Jason) Parrish, Caitlen (Geoffrey) Hahn, Olivia Bishop, Christopher Bishop, Patrice and Carissa;one great granddaughter, Kaia James Parrish;sisters-in-law,Wanda Rahn, Mary Yarger and Dorothy Yarger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna and brothers; Elmer Rahn Jr. and Edwin Rahn.
