Janet Joan (Johnson) Cady

Janet J. Cady, 80, of Cambridge, IL, passed away on September 18, 2023, at Hillcrest Home-Geneseo. Visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Lancaster officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com/live-stream.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be dispersed to Janet’s favorite charities. Janet was born on December 16, 1942, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Carl “Gib” and Pearl (Firch) Johnson. She graduated from Geneseo High School Class of 1960. She married Gib Cady on June 25, 1961, and he survives. Janet began her banking career that spanned over 30 years at Atkinson Trust and Savings. From there she transferred to Geneseo Farmers National Bank, now Wells Fargo, where she retired after 25 years. Janet was a member of First Lutheran Church in Geneseo. She loved holidays, especially Christmas where she would go shopping, decorate, and bake all her favorite treats. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, planting flowers, going on cruises, and traveling with Gib to see family and friends. Janet was an avid dog lover, and you could always find her laughing and enjoying life.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Gib Cady, daughters; Coni (Marty) Himmelman of Geneseo, Lori (Ron) Tracey of Geneseo, grandchildren; Broc (Jenny) Krantz, Bailie (Brent) Bachmann, Rachael Himmelman; Devon, Ryann and Griffin Tracey, great grandchildren; Chase, Cohen and Conley Krantz; Meyer, Mackenlee and Aubree Bachman, Rowan Iwinski and sister-in-law, Carol Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Johnson.
