Janet R. DeGerengel

Janet R. DeGerengel, 73, of Geneseo, IL, passed away at Allure of Geneseo on November 18, 2023. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10-11 AM at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:45 AM prior to visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Deacon Robert O’Rourke officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery-Geneseo. Janet was born in Moline, IL, on December 10, 1949, the daughter of Gerald and Rosemary (Pisman) Lofgren. She graduated from Geneseo High School Class of 1968. She married Daryl DeGerengel on July 8, 1972, and he survives. Janet worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and later Geneseo Public Library until retirement. She was a farm wife and mother for several years and really enjoyed working on the farm with Daryl and raising her children. She loved sewing, reading, cooking, baking, quilting and especially spending time with her family and friends. Janet was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Geneseo.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Daryl DeGerengel, children, Marilyn (Kyle) Noard of Orion, Brian DeGerengel of Geneseo, siblings; Linda (Dave) Clark of Colona, Steve (Sharon) Lofgren of Geneseo, and Pam (Joe) Talbot of Concord, NC, grandchildren; Logan Noard, Ryan Noard and Dace DeGerengel and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Rosemary Lofgren and sister, Gloria Lofgren.
