Jania M. Sawyer

Jania Minnitte Sawyer, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at her home.  An inurnment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island.  Reverend Dean Reed will officiate.  A procession to the cemetery will leave Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel promptly at 9:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jania Sawyer Memorial Fund.

Jania was born, the daughter of Robert and Betty (Tuthill) DeWitt, in Torrence, CA.  She was a graduate of United Township High School, East Moline, IL.  On October 1, 1988, Jania married John Sawyer at a service held in Colona.  She is survived by her husband John and adult children.
