Jason Swenson
Jason (JJ) Swenson, 35, of Oakland, California, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2023, in California. Cremation rites have been accorded, as per the family’s wishes. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes and Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church, 10560 Wolf Road, Geneseo, IL, 61254. Pastor Jeff French will officiate. Inurnment will be held following the service at Spring Creek Cemetery, Atkinson. Memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Police Department IMPACT program for mental health and substance abuse, or to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
Jason was born on August 5,1987, in Joliet, Illinois and was later adopted by Roy Swenson and Dawn Milton in Macomb, Illinois in 1989. Jason enjoyed being a part of the Macomb Assembly of God Royal Rangers Program in his childhood. He also discovered his talent for playing the piano. He began taking piano lessons at Western Illinois University in Macomb at age five. Jason won several first-place awards for piano competitions in the Galesburg Symphony Piano Music Competition.
Jason attended high schools in Traverse City, MI, Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, MI and graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, CA.
Jason was a very talented pianist and keyboardist and wrote several music pieces which he was very well known for. He taught keyboarding and music composition classes at several after school programs in the Bay area.
Jason is survived by his parents; Roy Swenson, Geneseo, Dawn (Steve) Milton, Nampa, ID; siblings Julia Swenson, Galesburg, Amber (Alex) Tereschenko, West Park, FL, Christy (Kevin) Bizzell, Paso Robles, CA, Colette Swenson, Miramar, Fl and Jeremy (Erin) Swenson, Geneseo; six nieces and nephews.
