Jeffrey T. Smith

Jeffrey T. Smith, 58, of Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Genesis Medical Center – Illini Campus, Silvis.  A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Joel Kobernat will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Jeffrey Smith Memorial Fund.

Jeffrey was born March 1, 1961, the son of Darwood Smith and Marty Whitt, in Aurora, IL.  He attended Lockport Township High School.  He married Andrea Pote Yedinak on April 27, 1986. They later separated.  Jeff was employed by Homer Township Highway Department for 26 years as a mechanic.  He was a volunteer fireman and lieutenant for Homer Township Fire Department.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and taking drives.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Darwood Smith, Harper, TX, and Marty Hannah, Geneseo, IL; son, Jeffrey (Jordan) Smith, Minooka, IL; daughter, Jenna (fiancé Marcus Hart) Smith, Lockport, IL; grandchildren, Anastasia, Lily, and Tessa; brothers, James (Michelle) Smith, Galva, Michael (Dayna) Smith, Minooka, IL, Kenneth (Keri) Smith, Geneseo, and Kevin (Dawn Turner) Smith, Geneseo; sister, Debbie (Harry) Kosters, Morris, IL.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Vincent Hannah, and his niece, Allyson Kosters.
