Jerilyn M. VanDeWoestyne

Jerilyn Marlee VanDeWoestyne, 76, of Geneseo, passed away on January 22, 2023, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Long Term Care, Geneseo.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate.  A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Jerilyn VanDeWoestyne Memorial Fund.

Jerilyn was born October 15, 1946, the daughter of Edward and LaFaun (Hamilton) Storm in Geneseo.  She graduated from Atkinson High School and went on to attend AIC.  On August 14, 1965, Jerilyn married her loving husband Alan VanDeWoestyne and together they raised three children.  She spent several years as a writer and correspondent for the Atkinson/Annawan News, and the Geneseo Republic newspaper.  She was a life-time member of the former Atkinson Congregational Church.  Jerilyn was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren and loved the time they spent together, especially the holidays.  She enjoyed writing columns called “What’s Cooking” , “Just a Thought”, and her numerous stories.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Alan VanDeWoestyne of Geneseo; children, Brandi (Steve) Catton of Geneseo, Brooke Bailey of Geneseo, and Brett (Renee) VanDeWoestyne of Geneseo; grandchildren, Nathan and Katie VanDeWoestyne, Bella Marlee Bailey, Zach and Alyssa Catton (Aaron McCarl); great-grandchild, Nora Marlee McCarl.

Jerilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and LaFaun Storm; and sister, Jeanette Storm.
