Jerry Ray Capps

Jerry Ray Capps, 66, of Altona, IL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on April 12, 2021.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery, Atkinson, IL.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born on December 13, 1954, the son of Jack R. and Charlotte (Boyer) Capps, in Fort Hood, TX.  He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1972.  He married Denise Pennell at a service held in Cambridge, IL, on September 1, 1976.  He proudly served in the United States Marines and the Army National Guard.  Jerry was employed as a welding supervisor at the Rock Island Arsenal.  He was a member of the NRA, a thirty-one year Mason, and the American Legion. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Jack and Charlotte, Atkinson, IL; his wife, Denise, Altona, IL; children, Nerrissa (Terry) Harris, East Moline, IL, and Jack Capps, Cambridge, IL; grandchildren, Brayden, Kalan, Trevor, and Jarrod; siblings, Theresa (Bright) Newhouse, Claredon, TX, Janette (Bill) Morgan, Maryville, TN, Joyce Paxton, WY, and Larry (Sondra) Capps, Kingston, GA.
