John E. Batzkiel

John E. Batzkiel, 76, of Atkinson, IL, passed away on February 15, 2025, at Celebrate Senior Living in Moline. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel is handling arrangements. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Greenview Memorial Gardens.

John was born on August 6, 1948, in Silvis, IL, the son of Chester and Dorothy (Engholm) Batzkiel. He served in the United States Army. He married Patty Chandler in 1988, and she preceded him in death in 2022. John worked at Purina in Atkinson and then National Railway for many years until retiring. He also DJ’d for 26 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristie Lewis, brother, Charlie Batzkiel, sister, Robin Nordinger and two granddaughters: Larissa and Kayla Batzkiel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Dorothy Batzkiel, wife Patty Batzkiel and brother, Bob Batzkiel.
