Jon Charles Mitchell

Jon Charles Mitchell, 73, of Geneseo, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Rock River Hospice House and Home in Sterling, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Per Jon’s wishes, no services will be held.

Jon was born on July 7, 1951, the son of Lauren and Anita Lavona (Potter) Mitchell. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1969.

Jon’s passion in life was working on and showing cars and motorcycles, especially European racing cars. Jon served on many racing pit crews. He was an expert in repairing and maintaining special cars and motorcycles for several collectors. Jon was known as a Mercedes Benz and Porsche specialist and historian. A major point in his career was his time at Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, FL where he worked on the race team and curator of the car collection.

Jon was an animal lover who enjoyed several Dobermans and rescue Greyhounds.

Jon was a passionate music lover who especially enjoyed rock, blues artists, and great music poets such as John Prine and Bob Dylan. He took delight in making ”road trip” CD’s for his friends that were always excellent. Jeff Beck was a special favorite along with ZZ Top.

Jon was precede in death by his parents, Lauren and Anita, and a brother, Rolland (Ron).
