Judy Kelley Obituary

Judy Faye Kelley, 82, of Geneseo, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo.  Per Judy’s wishes, Cremation Rites have been accorded.  A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  The Women of the Moose service will be at 4:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.  The Order of the Eastern Star service will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.  She will be inurned at a later date in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona.  Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society – Geneseo, 14606 Roos Hill Road, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

 

Judy was born September 22, 1940, the daughter of Carl and Mazie (Ellingsworth) Steiner, in Geneseo, IL.  She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1958.  She also graduated from American Institute College, Davenport.  Judy was employed for over twenty-five years as a hostess for Short Hills Country Club, East Moline and a former employee for the City of Geneseo.  Everyone loved Judy and called her “Jude”.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Azure Circle of Grace United, several card clubs, Women of the Moose, past State Officer of the Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Silvis Chapter, Geneseo Football Boosters, member of the Alpha Iota Sorority – the Delta NU Chapter, and Geneseo Library Book Club.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and attending all of her kids/grandchildren’s activities.  She especially loved her family and her loving cat, Mocha.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ann Scranton of Geneseo, Kimberly Johnson of Geneseo, Jason (Amber) Johnson of Geneseo, and Jared Kelley of Rock Island; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Malachi, Justen, Shauna, Jason Jr., Stephanie, Alexys; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Charlotte, Tristan, Rylee, Charlie, and one on the way, Lawson; and a niece and nephew.

 

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mazie Steiner; brother, James Steiner, and longtime companion Wallace Clark.
