Karen Jean (Chrisop) Rice

Karen Jean Rice, 81, of Geneseo, passed away on October 25, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital-Geneseo. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Lancaster officiating. There will be a private family burial at a later date at North Cemetery-Geneseo. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Geneseo Humane Society or Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry.

Karen was born in Geneseo, IL on July 22, 1943, the daughter of Kenneth and Viola (Gernant) Chrisop. She graduated Geneseo High School and married William Rice on September 23, 1960. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2009. Karen worked and retired from Walmart in Geneseo after 25 years. She loved going to all her children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews’ sporting events and activities. She enjoyed going on family vacations and gatherings along with playing games, cards, going out to eat and trying new places. Karen was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo.

Those left to cherish her memory are children; Michelle (Jim) Glazier of Geneseo and Scott (Jackie) Rice of Geneseo, grandchildren; Jacob Glazier, Kyle Glazier, Megan (Nate) Rice, Josh Rice and Brandon (Abigail) Rice, nephews; Damian (Melissa) Girten and Bill (Tricia) Girten, several great nieces and nephews and companion, Richard Pilcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Viola Chrisop, husband, William Rice and brother, Arlyn Chrisop.
