Katherine Sue (Walters) Minder

Katherine "Kathy" Sue Minder, 70, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a memorial visitation on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 5pm - 7pm at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory - Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Katherine S. Minder memorial fund to be distributed amongst local charities.

Katherine was born the daughter of Darrell and Beverley Ann Egert Walters in Geneseo, IL. She married Gary Minder on July 23, 1977, in a ceremony in Rock Island. She graduated from J.D. Darnall High School class of 1970. After graduation Katherine attended some college courses. She became a stay-at-home mom and worked at the Dispatch later in life and when the Geneseo office closed she went to the Henry County Senior Citizens Center. Katherine’s real passion was for Genealogy, spending many hours at the Geneseo Library doing research, she had an integral role in organizing the class reunions of the graduating class of 1970, and how she was a vital source of historical facts of Geneseo. She had the most amazing memory and never missed a birthday or anniversary.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, she was very proud of being a Henry County election judge and being on the board for the Hammond Henry Hospital Home Health department.  Katherine could always be found spending time with family and attending the grandchildren, nieces, and nephews’ various events, always with knitting in tow.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Gary of Geneseo, one son Kelley Gradert of Moline, two daughters; Danika (Ryan) Fulcher of Federal Way, WA, Caitlin Minder of Geneseo; one brother Bruce (Cindy) Walters of Geneseo; one sister Becky (Norm) Singbush of Geneseo; four grandchildren, Alaina (Chandler) Hofman-Klauer, Phoebe Gradert, Kellen Minder and Temperance Fulcher; nieces and nephews, Benjamin (Eugenia) Walters, Patrick (Kasha) Walters, Ian (Athena) Walters, Broc Golden, JP Golden, Brittani (Dustin) Minnaert, Anthony Golden, Rayce Singbush, Quinn Singbush (partner Naomi Flowers); and many great nieces and great nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; Darrell and Beverley Ann.
