Kathleen Ann Madara, 80, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded and no services are to be held. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to West Hancock Canine Rescue, Hamilton, IL. Please send the memorials directly to the rescue facility.

Kathleen was born September 12, 1941, the daughter of Thomas and Eva (Karr) Ryan, in Moline, IL. She married Walter Madara on February 16, 1963, at a service in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2010. She was employed as a secretary at Modern Woodmen of America for nine years and Deere & Company for three years. Kathleen loved animals and had a passion for rescuing any animal in need.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kris Smith, Sheffield, IL, and Jon Madara, Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Brock and Blake; sister-in-law, Donna Ryan, Moline, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva; her husband, Walter; and brother, Michael Ryan.
