Kathleen M. Murphy

Kathleen Marie (Carlson) Murphy, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Allure of Walnut, IL.  Cremation rites have been requested, and Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.  The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life, which will be held on July 6, 2025, at 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Valley View Country Club in Cambridge, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Kathleen was born August 8, 1948, daughter of Lowe and Viola Carlson, in Moline, IL.  She attended Moline Public Schools.  Kathleen married Chuck Murphy, and they later divorced. She was employed as a healthcare aide for several years and was a member of the Cambridge Methodist Church.  Kathleen had a strong love for her family, which included her four-legged babies, and enjoyed spending time with them.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Shawn Murphy of Geneseo; sisters, Karen Van Quathem of Urbandale, IA, and Gayelene (Bruce) Johnson of Cambridge; sisters-in-law, Diane Carlson of Moline, and RuthAnn Carlson of MI; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Lowe and Viola Carlson; son, Steven Murphy; and brothers, Ken Carlson and Ron Carlson.
