Kenneth L. Minnaert

Kenneth (Kenny) Lynn Minnaert, 70, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Sterling, Illinois.   A private family mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atkinson, Illinois. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will celebrate. He will be laid to rest at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Atkinson Chapel is handling arrangements. Kenny was born on February 20,1954, and is the son of Walter and Vera (Rist) Minnaert. He attended school at the Pilot House in Kewanee, Illinois, before making his home for 47 years at Brother James Court in Springfield, Illinois. In 2022, he transferred to Cornerstone Special Care (ECTC) in Sterling, Illinois. The family is forever grateful for the care, compassion, and dedication shown to Kenny by the staff at this special home. Their unwavering support brought comfort and peace to him in his final days, and their kindness will be remembered always.  We thank them for the dignity and respect they provided, which made a lasting difference to both him and his loved ones.

Kenny was known for his love of dancing, shopping at K-Mart, his enthusiasm for "The Price is Right," cartoon characters, hanging with “the boys,” Chicago Cubs, love of Pepsi Cola, and the cherished holidays spent with his family whom he adored.  His joyful spirit and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by those who knew him. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Mike (Linda) Minnaert and sister-in-law, Carol Minnaert. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and extended family whom include: Jill (Joe) Woulf (Ashton & Elysia) and Brett (Tasia) Minnaert (Amara), Angie (Jack) Ashcraft (Eric,Grace & Marc), Trev Minnaert, Troy (Sheri) Minnaert (Tyler, Natalie & Riley), Cameron (Kathy) Minnaert (Rachel & Madilyn) and Nichole (Brian) Kutmas (Payton, Allison, & Matthew).

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Vera Minnaert, brother, Jack Minnaert and great niece, Addison Woulf.
