Kevin Paul De Decker, 73, of Hillsdale, IL, passed away on January 6, 2023, at his home. Per his wishes private family services will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Kevin was born in Geneseo, IL, on October 14, 1950, the son of Hayden and Faith (Potrafke) De Decker. He graduated from Geneseo High School and Augustana College. While at Augie he was very active in fraternity, an avid tennis player and became the first male gymnast cheerleader for the school. He taught English and Drama at Atkinson and Viola while also coaching football and wrestling. Kevin acted and directed many plays at Richmond Hill Players and Playcrafters Barn. He loved his dogs, nature, fishing and was a Civil War buff even attending and teaching programs on Civil War history.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Faith De Decker of Geneseo, sister, Nona Thornhill of Austin, TX, brother, Patrick (Terri) De Decker of Batavia, IL, and nieces, Carley and Leah Thornhill, Elizabeth Berra, and Dr. Lauren De Decker-Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hayden T. De Decker, brother, Dr. Brian De Decker, grandparents, Lucy and Eli De Decker, and Henry and Audrey Potrafke.
