Larry L. Goodwin, age 77 of Geneseo, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Specialty Select Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home - Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Paul Henschel will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home - Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to AE-TA and the American Heart Association.
Larry was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great friend to many. He was born at Taylorville, Illinois on April 24, 1949. He was the son of Paul Edward Goodwin and Lois Eileen (Johnson) Goodwin. He married Linda Kay Stith on April 16, 1972, in Petersburg, Illinois and just observed 54 years of marriage.
Growing up in Geneseo and graduated from J.D. Darnall High School in 1967, he later went on to receive a BS in Ag Economics from Western Illinois University. Larry held memberships and was president of the Antique Engine & Tractor Association, Geneseo and president and founding member of Deer Valley Tractor Club. He also was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Appraisers and owned his own appraisal company, F&H Appraisal. Larry was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo and was a member of the church choir and the singing group, Love Unlimited.
Larry was employed most recently at Heritage Tractor (Martin Tractor), Kewanee. He was employed at several insurance and real estate companies and other local businesses. Larry loved to work on antique tractors and could often be found at his machine shed with friends working on his old John Deere machinery. If you needed a helping hand, Larry could be counted on.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Linda, daughter, Connie (Robert) Keeney of Cambridge and granddaughters Katherine (Mason Umphreys) Keeney and Alyssa Keeney. Siblings, brother Terry (Joyce) Goodwin, Herscher and sister Karen (Richard) Mowers, Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Dixon.
