Lauretta M. Kincaid, 93, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow at North Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Lauretta M. Kincaid Memorial Fund.
Lauretta was born April 29, 1927, the daughter of Glenn and Olive (Odstrom) Farrell, in Geneseo, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School. She married Dale Kincaid on November 22, 1947, at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2002. She was employed at Geneseo Telephone Company and Millikin Elementary School in the cafeteria for 13 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, reading, knitting, and was in FIVE bridge clubs. Lauretta really enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cheryl Verplaetse, Washington, IL, Linda Verway, Kewanee, IL, and David (Amy) Kincaid, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Verplaetse, Sara Verplaetse, Michael Kincaid, Casey Verway, Riley Kincaid, and Brandon Kincaid; sister, Evelyn (Don) Wilson, Kewanee; brothers, Richard (Virginia) Farrell, Geneseo and Charles (Carol) Farrell, Mercer Island, WA; twelve great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Olive, her husband, Dale, grandson, Adam Verplaetse, son-in-law, Scott Verplaetse, brother, Glenn Farrell, and sister, Georgiana Gustafson.
