Lawrence "Larry" Adams Obituary

Lawrence Timothy Adams, 42, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home.  Per the families wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Hangout Arcade, 117 S. East Street, Cambridge, IL, 61238.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family and online condolences may be left at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Hertko Hollow (www.camphertkohollow.com), a summer camp for children ages 6-17 who have Type 1 Diabetes.

Larry was born May 2, 1981, the son of Lawrence and Patricia (Anderson) Adams, in Geneseo, IL. He worked at various restaurants as a chef, from Aspen, CO to Greenville, SC.  Larry assisted at the YMCA of Greater Des Moines camp and volunteered for Camp Hertko Hollow, enjoyed collecting vinyl records, comic books, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  He was even an ordained minister and performed numerous marriages. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Patti (Jon) Cooper of Port Byron; father, Lawrence Adams of Donahue, IA; brother, Ian (Mary Bess) Adams of Glenwood Springs, CO; sister, Stephanie (John) Taylor of Cambridge, IL; and nieces and nephews, Miles, Anderson, and Colette Taylor, and Eleanor and Michael Adams.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herb and Lois Anderson, and Alby and Dorothy Adams; uncles, John “JJ” Adams and Gary Adams; and aunt, Kate Mead.
