Lawrence “Larry” H. Flaherty, 84, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, in the near future. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Lawrence was born September 9, 1939, the son of Dale and Dorothy (Beams) Flaherty, in Princeton, IL. He married Mary Lou White on July 6, 1958, in Bureau, IL. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2013. He was employed as a transportation specialist at Alcoa and was employed there until retirement. Larry was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist faith. His hobbies included being a ham radio operator, camping, and especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, James (Bobbi) Flaherty of Geneseo, and Pamela (Tim) Thorpe of Marion, IL; grandchildren, Jenny (Nathan) Allen, Madison (Nolan) Clark, Jamie Vincent, and Dan Bubon; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Lauralee (Howard Rechtschaffen) Flaherty; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Dorothy Flaherty; his wife, Mary Lou Flaherty; and daughter, Deborah Lynn Flaherty.
