Linda Arden (Nye) Kutsunis, 82, of Geneseo, Illinois and Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota, Florida. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Island, Illinois. Father Michael Constantinides will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Linda was born September 14, 1939, the daughter of Dr. Russell Oliver and Arline (Hinson) Nye, in Kewanee, Illinois. She graduated from Geneseo High School and attended the University of Iowa. On September 26, 1965, Linda married George W. Kutsunis. Linda loved and enjoyed raising her three children, Katie, Bill, and Chris and then became very active as both a volunteer and businesswoman in Geneseo. She was instrumental in growing the Geneseo Victorian Walk event and was passionate about transforming Geneseo into a beautiful Victorian Christmas setting. In 1992, she started Pegasus Fine Gifts. Linda loved attending the gift shows and finding unique and special items for her store. Pegasus is a magical store filled with gifts, collectibles, homemade fudge, and a coffee bar. Linda also was instrumental in helping her husband George build the Four Seasons women apparel stores. Linda was proud to be a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptochos Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Linda loved to travel and play cards with special friends, Gary and Pat Boruff of Venice, Florida. Linda was proud to be a YiaYia (Greek for Grandmother) to seven special grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, George W. Kutsunis of Geneseo and Sarasota, Florida; daughter, Katie Kutsunis, Geneseo, IL, and sons, Bill (Jennifer) Kutsunis, Verona, Wisconsin and Chris (Amy) Kutsunis of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Christos and Eleni Andrios, George and Alex Kutsunis and Maria, Nick and Stella Kutsunis; sister-in-law, Jane (Kutsunis) Kefalides of San Rafael, California and niece, Dr. Patricia Theodosopoulos of San Rafael, California and nephew, Dr. Paul Kefalides of San Rafael, California. She was preceded in death by her parents.
