Lois Finley Obituary

Lois “Lolo” I. Finley, 80, of Geneseo, passed away May 23, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Cremation rites have been accorded with Vandemore Funeral. Per her request, no visitation or funeral will be held. In her honor, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date, TBD.

Lois Finley was born March 11, 1945 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Ada (Frank) Neer. She graduated from Alwood High School in 1963. Later that same year, Lois married the love of her life, Bob Finley, on December 17th in Alpha, IL.

Lolo had a passion for sports (Go Braves and Cowboys!). She loved playing softball and won many awards. For years, she umpired softball and baseball, at both youth and adult levels. She enjoyed playing recreational league volleyball. She was also an avid bowler, and for many years, she was a youth bowling coach. While Lois dedicated a lot of years giving back to her community through coaching, she was even more dedicated to her family. She loved watching her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids play sports. She loved riding motorcycles with Bob. She loved camping and going to Adventureland with her family and friends. She loved baking with her grandchildren, but never would give up her secret cinnamon roll recipe. Lois never met a stranger and was “Grandma Lolo” to every kid she met. She had a quick wit and the best sense of humor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Geneseo. There is so much to say about the beautiful, caring woman Lolo was and not enough room to say it, but if you knew her, you know.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Robert “Bob” Finley; her children: Tony (Sheila) Finley, and Brenda (Tracy Myers) Williams; grandchildren: Chris Lewis, Brittany (Ben) Irmen, Sean (Jordan) Finley, and Marcus Williams; siblings: Charlie (Helen) Lenz of Yuma, AZ, Richard “Scratch” (Mary) Lenz of Mobile, AL, and sister-in-law Helen Neer of Aledo, IL; and many beloved great grandchildren, cousins, nieces/nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Lolo will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and through memories shared. May she rest in peace.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ada, and step-father Charles “Doc” Lenz; siblings, Ruby, Jerry, Robert, Don, and Ellen (Lenz); and a nephew Gary.
