Lynne Marlene Johnson, 88, of Geneseo, IL peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Edford Township, rural Geneseo. Pastor Robert Hagen will officiate. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Edford township, rural Geneseo. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4 P.M. – 7 P.M. at Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Church.
Lynne was born on July 5, 1937, the daughter of Leland and Margaret (Schwennsen) Magerkurth in Geneseo, IL. She was raised on the family farm in Edford Township. Lynne was baptized, confirmed, married and now laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Edford Township. She attended Hickory Grove School, Geneseo Jr. High and Geneseo High School, from which she graduated in 1955. She married Lee Johnson on June 3, 1956. They were happily married for 64 years until Lee’s passing on August 12, 2020.
Lynne was a homemaker and the mother of five children. After her children started school, she started working at J.A. Haff & Sons/Three Rivers Pre Cooked Fryers until she went to work as an office receptionist at Dr. Robert Daniels D.D.S. She loved that job and met a lot of people. She would work for Dr. Bob and later his son Dr. Tom for 23 years.
Lynne was a gifted seamstress, loved to embroider, knit, crochet and cross stitch. Lynne did some beautiful cross stitches, a couple of them are located in the narthex of the church. Lynne also loved to read and watch Jeopardy.
Through all the trials and tribulations of life, Lynne’s faith in her Lord stayed strong and steadfast, knowing that one day she would meet her lord and Savior.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Charles (April) Johnson of Osh Kosh, WI, Linda (Roy Jr.) White of Moline, IL, Del (Bev) Johnson of Lynn Center, IL, Michelle (Jim) Maricle of Rock Island, IL, and Annette Hermann (Cory Kleiber) of Rock Island, IL; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters-in-law, Sheila Magerkurth and Mary Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Margaret Magerkurth; husband, Lee Johnson; siblings, Dawn Daebelliehn and Fred Magerkurth; three brothers in law; one sister in law; and two grandchildren.
