Marian was born on August 11, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Nelson) Clayes in Moline, IL. She graduated from Moline High School. Marian married Daniel Leonard on October 9, 1948. He preceded her in death. She later met and married Robert Rodgers on September 30, 1995. He preceded her in death. Marian was very involved in her community. She was a member of the Hammond Henry Auxiliary, UMW Sewing Group, the Quilter Guild, and the Geneseo Moose Lodge.
Marion had a long career at the John Deere company, working for many years as an assistant to the director of payroll in the Moline headquarters. She was an avid golfer, always ready to take on her grandchildren at mini golf. A prolific handcrafter, she enjoyed cross-stitching. But her passion for many years was making quilts. Her many quilts cover the beds of family members and friends, as well as others who benefited from her generosity. In her retirement, she shared her love of quilts by teaching others. She loved traveling and attended the graduations of as many grandchildren as she could. She is missed by all whose lives she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Garry (Nancy) Leonard of Madison, CT; Gay (Tom) Ware of Livonia, MI; four grandchildren, Douglas, Martha, Evan and Emma; and five great-grandchildren, Brenden, Kelsey, Cedric, Sophia and Cole.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Florence; husbands, Daniel Leonard and Robert Rodgers; and sister, Darlene Kolb.
