Marilyn Nielsen Obituary

Marilyn Nielsen, 89, of Geneseo, passed away on March 28, 2024, at Allure in Geneseo. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Geneseo First Methodist Church at 11 am with Rev. Chris Ritter officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10-11 AM at the church. Burial will take place at Hopeland Cemetery in Buda, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry or the Geneseo Fire Department.

Marilyn was born on December 8, 1934, the daughter of Fred and Agnes (Ford) Keim. She was a graduate of Annawan High School in 1952. She went on to get her bachelor’s at Augustana and then her master’s at Western Illinois University. Marilyn married Eugene Nielsen on September 19, 1954. Together they had six beautiful children. Marilyn was a teacher in the Geneseo School District for 22 years. She was involved in the Quilt Club, TRS, and was a Sunday School Teacher for 20 years. She loved quilting, playing cards in her card club, and spending time with her family at family gatherings.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Clay ( LeeAnn) Nielsen of Atkinson, IL, Bruce (Angie) Nielsen of Moline, IL; daughters, Sandra (Roy) Milling of Maggie Valley, NC, Linda Stockton of Geneseo, IL; brother, Ronald (Mary) Keim of Moline, IL; daughter in law Susan Nielsen of Lakewood, CO; son in law Bill Kall of Nokomis, FL; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and twin brother; Marvin, brothers; Dwain, Hayden, Harold, and Darrell, son; Mark Nielsen, daughter, Brenda Kall; and son in law, Ken Stockton.
