Marilyn Elizabeth Wakenight, 69, of Peoria, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 16, 2021, at OSF – St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Randy Mullin will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Marilyn Wakenight Memorial Fund.
Marilyn was born on January 20, 1952, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (VanVooren) Doubler, in Geneseo, IL. She attended high school and went on to attend college. Her love of animals was a perfect fit for her profession as a pet groomer (receptionist) at The Clipp Joint. Marilyn loved her dogs Jazzy, Tootsie, and Kimber. She enjoyed helping people whenever possible and was a fabulous grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carrie (Fred) Lohse, Warner, OK, and Jason (Kristy) Wakenight, Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Britni Heavener, Jackie (Pete) Sanchez, Camarie (Gage) Mueller, Anarose Mueller, and Jaylyn Wakenight; great-grandchildren, Brody Roop, Bailee Roop, Pete Sanchez, Jr., Alfred Beasley, Ashton Beasley, Lily Sanchez, and Landyn Beasley; and brother, Don Doubler, Annawan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth; her brother, Bill Doubler, sister-in-law, Judy Doubler; and granddaughter, Hannah E. Wakenight.
