Marjorie VanKerrebroeck

Marjorie VanKerrebroeck, 101, of Mineral, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Woodridge Supportive Living, Geneseo, surrounded by her loving family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sheffield, IL.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Sheffield, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m, prior to the service.  Vandemore Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be directed to Mineral – Sheffield Rescue Unit, and St. Patrick Cemetery.

Marjorie was born October 12, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Emily (VanDeHande) VanDeVelde.  October 5, 1940, she married Gilbert VanKerrbroeck in Sheffield.  They farmed in Mineral – Sheffield area for forty years, before moving to town in the home constructed by their sons.  She resided in Woodridge Supportive Living the past two years.  Marjorie’s greatest joy was providing a clean and welcoming home for her family and friends, and preparing delicious meals and baked goods for them.

Marjorie was a member of Altar and Rosary Society, volunteered at Hammond Henry Hospital, and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and Rolle Bolle.  Marjorie enjoyed following and taking great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities.

Cherishing her memory include her children, Richard (Sharon) VanKerrebroeck of Annawan, Bob (Janet) VanKerrebroeck of Geneseo, and Sue (Bob) Lanxon of Sheffield; grandchildren, Shalee (Dean) Johnson, Drew (Amy) VanKerrebroeck, Andy (Nikki) Lanxon, Luke (Jordan) Lanxon, Ky (Kelly) VanKerrebroeck, and Kate (Kevin) Reed; great-grandchildren, Trace and Ty Johnson, Aubrey and Callie VanKerrebroeck, Kwin and KellenVanKerrebroeck, Annie and Charlie Reed, Owen Lanxon, and Sawyer Lanxon; and special friends, Sue Hartweg and neighbors, Debbie and Eldon Croegaert.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emily VanDeVelde; her loving husband, Gilbert VanKerrebroeck; and brother, Chester VanDeVelde.
