Marlene E. Henthorn

Marlene E. Henthorn, 88, of Geneseo passed away on March 9, 2024, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Loraine Church, 28782 E 2000th Street, Prophetstown, IL, 61277.

Marlene was born on October 23, 1935, the daughter of Raymond and Ella (Oelke) Bartz, in Geneseo.  She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1953.  Marlene married Kenneth Henthorn on January 17, 1956.  They lived in the Geneseo area until retirement, then moved to Benton, KY and Pick City, ND to pursue their hobby of fishing.  Kenneth preceded her in death on December 27, 2015.  They had one son, Michael, who resides in rural Erie, IL.  Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family, playing card games, solving puzzles, and cherishing moments with her friends.

Marlene will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael (Loraine) Henthorn of Erie; grandchildren, Nicolas (Annie) Henthorn of rural Prophetstown and Neal (Karissa) Henthorn of rural Erie; great-grandchildren, Silas, Sadie, Sophie, Samuel, Simon, Spencer, Shepherd, Shiloh, Kelsey, Evalyn, Lydia, Vivienne, Bethany, Benjamin; and sister, Dianne (Charles) Berthold of Park Ridge, IL.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ella Bartz; her loving husband, Kenneth Henthorn; and brother Royce Bartz of Moline.
