Marvin Richard Licht, 82, of Cambridge, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Cambridge United Methodist Church. Reverend Lisa Unger will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Marvin Licht Memorial Fund.
Marvin was born February 1, 1941, the son of Richard and Claudina (VonEssen) Licht, in Lowden, IA. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. Marvin married Karol Opalka at a service held at Cambridge United Methodist Church on August 2, 1964. He owned and operated his own farm in Cambridge, was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and the Woodhull American Legion. He enjoyed coon hunting, but especially treasured spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karol Licht; daughter, Karla (Brian) Knapp of Bloomfield, IA; grandchildren, Baxter, Morgan, and Lexi; siblings, Lucille Horman of Lowden, IA, Alvin Licht of Lowden, IA, Lawrence Licht of Clarence, IA Eleanor Wenndt of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Elaine Kroh of Wheatland, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Claudina Licht; and sister, Lois Yutesler.
