Mary L. Palmer

Mary L. Palmer, 76, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Cremation rites have been accorded and per Mary’s wishes – no services will be held.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will assist the family during this difficult time and online condolences may be left at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be directed to the Mary Palmer Memorial Fund which will be disbursed amongst her favorite local charities.

Mary was born August 29, 1948, the daughter of Robert and Muriel (Pyle) McRell, in Kewanee, IL.  She graduated from Kewanee High School, class of 1966.  After high school, she went to college and then began her nursing career.  She was employed at Hammond Henry Hospital for over thirty years, retiring in 1995.  During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Stanley Palmer, on November 19, 1967.  They had been married 57 ½ years. 

Mary’s interests included traveling along Route 66, going from Geneseo to California.  Her travels also reached from the Canadian border all the way to the Florida Keys.  She enjoyed spending time working in her flower garden.  Mary especially loved spending time with her family and her loving dog, Dixie.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Stanley Palmer of Geneseo; daughter, Heather (John) Seei of Geneseo; and grandchildren, Addison and Olivia Seei.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Muriel McRell.
