Mary Margaret Will, 88, of Geneseo, passed away on October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Cremation rites have been accorded. Per Mary’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Humane Society.
Mary was born on December 30, 1936 in Cincinatti, IA, the daughter of Delbert and Reva (Robbins) Ullrick. She attended Geneseo High School. She married Darrell “Ki” Vandemore in August of 1953 and together they had 5 children. They later divorced and he precedes her in death. Mary later married James A. Will on May 16, 1980, in Geneseo, IL. He precedes her in death. Aside from raising her children, Mary worked for 27 years as a nurse’s aide at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. In her younger years, Mary enjoyed biking and camping with her husband Jim. She enjoyed swimming, participating in lap swimming at the Geneseo Community Center and the QC Senior Olympics, where she made countless friends. She adored her two dogs, Zeke and Polly. Mary spent most of her free time quilting, sewing, crocheting, and reading. Mary was her happiest when she was spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Terry (Jill) Vandemore of Geneseo, IL, Thomas Vandemore of Atkinson, IL, Tina (Rock) VanOpdorp of Atkinson, IL, Robin (James) VanMeenen of Atkinson, IL; daughter in law, Janel Vandemore-Aper; step children, Deb Viane, Julie Langford, and Pam (Charles) Fisher; sister, Jane O’Brien; grandchildren, Martha (Jim) Ries, Tony (Kate) Vandemore, Anne (Robert) Hempel, Molly (Andrew) Timmerman, Maggy (Blake) Spivey, Emma (Joey) Lambin, and Mia Vandemore; great grandchildren, Abby (Reed) Adams, Cooper Ries, Vivian Vandemore, Victoria Vandemore, Auggie Hempel, Margaret Hempel, Emmersyn Timmerman, Jack Timmerman, Mason Spivey, Sadie Spivey, and Sophia Lambin.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Will; son, Joel Vandemore; stepdaughter, Ronda Diericx; brother, Robert Ullrick; and great grandson, Luke Timmerman.
