Mary Ann Yordy, 77, of Milan, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson, IL. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Mary Ann Yordy Memorial Fund to be distributed amongst local charities.
Mary Ann was born May 4, 1947, the daughter of Germain and Cordelia (Laridaen) DeWindt, in Geneseo, IL. She graduated from Atkinson High School, class of 1965. She was employed as a manager at Casey’s and was a homemaker. On July 25, 1969, Mary Ann married Michael Yordy at a service held in Milan, IL. They were married for over 55 years. Mary Ann was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Coyne Center for ten years, an avid golfer, was on several bowling teams, a Taylor Swift fan, and was an avid women’s sports fanatic. She enjoyed traveling to see her daughters and grandchildren and was voted “the greatest granny ever”.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Michael Yordy of Milan, IL; daughters Brenda (Albert) Castillo of Taylor, TX, and Trista (Steve) Cline of Oswego, IL; step-daughter, Kim (John Darin) Hengl of East Moline, IL; grandchildren, Logan Verbeke, Dylan Verbeke, Sam Cline, Carter Cline, Summer Lannen, Bryan White, and Cole Hengl; great-grandchildren, Piper Hengl, Steven Tittle, Jr, and Raelynn Verbeke; and sisters, Rose Kutzman of Milan, IL and Loraine Searl of Colona, IL.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Germain and Cordelia DeWindt.
