Melanie A. DeSplinter

Melanie A. DeSplinter, 69, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at her home.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Melanie DeSplinter Memorial Fund.

Melanie was born on September 1, 1954, the daughter of Joseph and Donna (Kenney) Gabriel, in Geneseo, IL.  She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1972.  On August 18, 1978, Melanie married Brian D. DeSplinter, in a service held in Geneseo.  He preceded her in death in 2001.  She was employed for several years as a foreman for Tyco in Prophetstown, IL.  Melanie loved music and movies, reading, bonfires, and the outdoors.  She enjoyed animals, especially her service dog, Mango.

Those left to cherish her memory include her Goddaughter, Megan Minnaert of San Diego, CA; and friend, Pat (Dave) Minnaert of Geneseo.

Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Donna Gabriel; and her best buddy, Bob Shipman.
