Michael L. Dryoel

Michael Lynn Dryoel, 73, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving friends.  Cremation rites have been accorded per Mike’s wishes, no services will be held.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting with arrangements.  Memorials may directed to the Mike Dryoel Memorial Fund which will be distributed amongst local charities. 

Mike was born October 22, 1950, the son of Robert V. and Betty (Clayton) Dryoel, in Rock Island, IL.  He graduated from Rock Island High School, class of 1968.  Mike often reminisced about his childhood growing up as part of a large family on Big Island, Milan, IL.  It was a very happy time for him.  After graduation he went on to own and operate his own barber shop, of which he was very proud.  Mike enjoyed the horse world, was considered a horse whisperer, and was an accomplished showman.  He was co-owner of the prestigious Belezaire Arabian Horse Farm, where he and his friend raised and trained world class Arabian horses for showing.  He won a multitude of horse shows and was considered a worthy competitor.  Mike was a good person who loved all creatures, kind, compassionate, believed in the best in people, and would do anything for anyone.  He was a wonderful friend that will truly be missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include several brothers and sisters; and many caring friends.

Mike was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Betty Dryoel; and several brothers and sisters.
