Michael "Mike" Eugene Johnson

Michael “Mike” Eugene Johnson, 61, of Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Emergency Department, Geneseo, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Pastor Steve Palm will officiate.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the memorial service, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Mike was born October 24, 1960, the son of Bernard and Virginia (Smith) Johnson, in Geneseo, IL.  He graduated from Geneseo High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy.  Mike was well known for serving his community as a crossing guard for the Geneseo School District for many years.  A position he really enjoyed.  During his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop with his buddies and playing bingo.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jasmine (Timothy) Smith, East Moline, IL; siblings, David (Dianne) Johnson, Leesburg, FL, Nancy DeFauw, Cambridge, IL, Linda (Jerry) Langsten, Paris, TX, and Deedra Johnson, Geneseo, IL; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Diane DePauw, Geneseo, IL, and Marty DePauw, Geneseo, IL, and friend, Delbert VanPelt, Cambridge, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Virginia.
