Mona M. (Radue) Claeys

Mona M. Claeys, 88, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Hammond Henry Long Term Care-Geneseo. Private family services will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel and she will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Mona was born in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Harlan and Helen (Rogers) Radue on April 6, 1935. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1953. She married Charles Claeys on September 24, 1960, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2015. Mona loved gardening, reading, listening to the Chicago Cubs games on the radio and quilting. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Those left to cherish her memory are children; Stacy Claeys of Iowa City, IA, Jim (Linda) Claeys of Geneseo and Ronald Claeys of Geneseo, siblings; Katherine Firch of Rockford, IL, Max (Meg) Radue of Geneseo and Debra (Vince) Heller of Geneseo, sister-in-law, Bev Radue of Geneseo, grandchildren; Nicki Sellon, Kelsey (Brandon) Cherry, Tyler (Ariel) Claeys, Emma Claeys, Eric Claeys, Brian Claeys and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Helen Radue, husband, Charles Claeys and brother, Roger Radue.
