Nancy Gecik Obituary

Nancy Ann Gecik, 80, of Silvis, IL, passed away on November 19, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island Hospital. Cremation Rites will be accorded, and per the family’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Nancy was born on April 19, 1945, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the beloved daughter of Charles and Ann (Demko) Monnecka. A proud graduate of Dickinson High School, she held a career as a talented hairdresser, bringing beauty and joy to those she served.

On August 24, 1968, she married the love of her life, Michael Gecik Jr., and together they built a warm and loving home. Nancy devoted herself fully to raising her children, embracing her role as a homemaker with grace and dedication. Her greatest happiness came from gathering family around the table, where her delicious home-cooked meals and boundless affection created cherished memories for all.

Nancy had a passion for shopping and an unwavering gift for making everyone feel loved and cared for. A lifelong Catholic, her deep faith guided her every day and sustained her through life’s joys and challenges.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, faithful friend, and woman of profound kindness and generosity.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Michael; children, Toniann (Alexander) Roland of Bel Air, MD, Sheriann (Jim) O’Brien of Geneseo, IL, Michael (Kim) Gecik of Milford, PA, Nicholas (Julia) Gecik of Queens, NY; and Justin (Allison) Gecik of Clifton, NJ; sister, Jacqueline Prunkel of Kintnersville, PA, grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Roland; Kyle, Dillon, Abigail, and Shelby Copeman; Michael, Maddie, Stephen, and Casey Gecik; Liam Gecik; and Olivia and Henry Gecik; and 6 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann Monnecka; and sister, Diane Rozsa.
