Nancy Anne Furnas was born to Robert and Marjorie Furnas in Bluffton, Indiana on December 13, 1940.  In her early years, her parents farmed, and she grew up with her cherished brother Fred surrounded by grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from High School in Churubusco, IN, and then moved to Chicago to work in the airline industry where she met her first husband, Ted Pittman, and had two daughters: Susan and Jeanne. They eventually moved to Davenport, IA, and later divorced.  Nancy worked for many years and retired from Alcoa where she was one of the first women who worked in the factory in sheet metal production.  She went on to finish her career in sales and was most proud of her Alcoa work in the aerospace industry.  Nancy married Robert Griggs in 1984.  Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the US in their retirement. Recently she proudly stated that she had visited all 50 states.  Nancy had a very strong Christian faith and led many women’s Bible studies over the years.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Griggs; daughter, Susan (Dan) Heitman, and their three children: Sarah (Dan) Long, Nick (Emily) Heitman, and Meg (Chris) McDonald,  and two great-grand-daughters Hadley and Willa McDonald; Daughter, Jeanne (Mike) Lawless and their children Tommy Lawless, Elsie Lawless, and Dr. Michael (Terese) Lawless and their children, Lily and Ruby. She is also survived by Bob’s children and their families, with special closeness to Jeff (Susan) Griggs and their family.  Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Fred.
