Patti L. McNaught

Patti L. McNaught, 79, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Woodridge Assisted Living- Geneseo.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Reverend Dan Seibert will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Patti McNaught Memorial Fund.

Patti was born on October 17, 1943, the daughter of Ernie and Essie (Brock) Oneth, in Rock Island, IL.  She graduated valedictorian of her 1961 class at United Township High School, East Moline.  Patti graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Illinois State University.  On October 5, 1968, she married Richard McNaught.  He preceded her in death on March 4, 2012.  Putting her education to use for over 30 years, she taught music education at Hayes – Davenport, Millikin – Geneseo, Carbon Cliff/Barstow Grade Schools, and retired from the Moline School District in 2007.  She taught piano for many years out of her home. She accompanied the Geneseo middle school choirs for several years.  She accompanied many students for solos and ensemble contests, and played for Von Maur, weddings, and funerals. She had a special talent for playing any song she heard by ear. Patti loved volunteering for the community, making fleece blankets for local domestic abuse organizations and children’s charities.  She would often hold garage sales that raised money for local domestic abuse shelters.  She was a 50-year member of GFWC IL Geneseo Woman’s Club of which she held various positions on both the state and local level. She was a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Hammond Henry Hospital Auxiliary and Grace United Methodist Church. Patti loved to do genealogy, travel and see her grandchildren in Colorado. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Meredith McNaught of East Dubuque, and Robin (Mike) Henson of Frederick, CO; grandchildren, Addison and Reese Henson; sister, Cathy Wells of Evans, CO; niece, Mollee (Kyle) Reiber; and nephew, Jay (Heather) Schumaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Essie Oneth; and her loving husband, Richard McNaught.
