Peter A. Yackley

Peter Allen Yackley, 74, of Atkinson, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Harmony Nursing in Davenport, IA.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  After memories and fellowship are shared burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery in rural Henry County.  Memorials may be directed in Peter’s honor to Winning Wheels, 701 E 3rd Street, Prophetstown, IL, 61277 (www.winningwheels.com). 

Pete was born September 4, 1949, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Paul and Patricia (Torreyson) Yackley.  He was a Geneseo High School graduate, then served in the United States Navy.  He married Saundra Crawford in October of 1977, to which two sons were born.  Pete had worked many jobs and retired from Innovative Machine, Geneseo, in 2011.  He loved to play pool and the guitar and will be remembered for his harmonica.  His greatest joy was his sons and grandchildren. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Matthew Yackley of Geneseo, Nicholas Yackley of Seattle, WA; granddaughters, Emily and Addison Yackley; mother, Patricia Yackley; brother, Paul (Cherie) Yackley; sister, Katie (Gene) Asleson; nieces and nephews; and many, many good friends.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Paul Yackley; and beloved grandson, Carter Yackley.
