Phyllis Butterfield

Phyllis Butterfield, 92, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday.  Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus, 1100 N. East Street, Kewanee, IL, 61443, and The Arc of The Quad Cities, 4016 9th Street, Rock Island, IL, 61201.  

Phyllis was born on February 19, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Iva (Ziegler) Knapp.  She graduated from Cordova High School, class of 1950.  In 1954, Phyllis married Thomas Bosold.  He preceded her in death in 1973.  She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, loved to bake – especially pies, travel with Linda, read, help anyone in need, and was a people person.  She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jean (Randy) Johnson of Cambridge, Steve (Julie) Bosold of Osco, and Linda Bosold of Moline; grandchildren, Matt Esser, Luke Esser, Laurie Johnson, Traci Bosold, Allison (Jake) Blade, and Tom Bosold; great-grandchildren, Alexia Johnson, Bentley Johnson, Adelynn Blade, and Jason Blade; and twin sister, Lois Arbour of Kansas.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Iva Knapp; husband, Thomas Bosold; daughter, JoAnn Bosold; and brothers, Joe Knapp and Laverne “Boots” Knapp.
