Phyllis L. Keag, 94, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital - Long Term Care, Geneseo. A private (family only) graveside service will be held. A public visitation will be hosted from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Phyllis was born May 29, 1930, the daughter of Melvin and Mary (Schwark) Wildemuth, in Munson Township, rural Geneseo, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School. Phyllis married Julian S. “Jude” Keag. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was employed as a beauty schoolteacher for many years, a volunteer at Hammond Henry Hospital, and a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Independent Order of Foresters, Geneseo Moose Lodge, and Circle of Friends. Phyllis and Jude enjoyed going dancing. They enjoyed crossline dancing for 48 years, square dancing, and ballroom dancing. They enjoyed several cruises – traveling everywhere. Phyllis loved going to see her family and friends in California.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving nieces Sharon Stevens, Diane (Russell) Miller, Pamela (David) Bloom, Kay Gilmore, Karen (William) Scharfenberg, and Maureen (Herbert) McCree; nephews, Steven (Lynette) Wildemuth, Kenneth Keag, Troy Keag, and James (Catherine) Keag; and several great nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary Wildemuth; her loving husband, Julian “Jude” Keag; brother, Loren (Lois) Wildemuth, and nephews-in-law, Mike Stevens and William Scharfenberg.
