Raymond "Ray" F. Kutzman

Raymond “Ray” Frank Kutzman, 73, of Colona, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate.  Burial will follow at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona.  Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Colona Police Department Benevolent Fund, PO Box 170, Colona, IL, 61241-0170.

Raymond was born March 29, 1950, the son of Raymond and Juanita (Sunblade) Kutzman, in St. Louis, MO.  He served proudly as a Colona Police Department police officer for over 30 years, achieving the rank of Chief.  Ray served as a longtime member of the Colona School Board and volunteered as a crossing guard for the elementary school.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Chad Kutzman of Rock Island and Shaun (Elizabeth) Kutzman of Coal Valley; one grandchild on the way; siblings, Joe Kutzman of Geneseo, Deborah Novotny of Woodridge, IL, Brenda (Michael) Henry of Rock Island, and Bill (Marilyn) Kutzman of Colona; and special friend Cheryl Hoste.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Juanita Kutzman, and brothers, Robert, Larry, and Michael Kutzman.
