Regina Ann Steadman Obituary

Regina A. Steadman, born August 29, 1938, in Queens, New York, daughter of Jeannette Moran and Denis Galvin, passed peacefully into eternal salvation on October 9, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Regina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur A. Steadman, and was widowed for almost fifty years.

Regina resided at Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Geneseo, Illinois for the past great ten years, and prior to that in Middletown, New Jersey for most of her adult life.  She leaves many cherished memories in both communities. She embraced her active midwestern lifestyle in Geneseo, having made wonderful friends and had her days filled with conversation and fun.

Regina leaves her three children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter:  Arthur A. Steadman Jr., and wife, Helen Farrell of Geneseo, Illinois, and their children, Padraig (fiancé, Claire Lambach) of Chicago, Liam Steadman, of Washington, DC, and Mairead Regina Cross, and husband, Jesse, of Maine; Dana Jean Bower, and husband, Lewis, of Durham, CT, and their children, Lewis Price, III, and wife, Rebecca, and their daughter, Susan Ellen, of Guilford, CT; Matthew C. of Guilford, CT, Emily Elizabeth, of Philadelphia, and Sarah Elizabeth Wright, and her husband, Nicholas, of Chicago; Kelly Palaski, and husband, Don, of Colona, IL, and their daughters, Abigail Elizabeth, of Harrisburg, PA, and Margaux Regina of Colona, IL.  Regina’s greatest love was for that of her children and grandchildren.

Regina lived near the Jersey shore for most of her life and loved the beach and ocean.   She worked for many years at “Through the Year’s Day Care." She was adored by all for her kind, loving ways.  Regina was a devout Roman Catholic, and prided herself in going to daily Mass, and reciting the rosary.   She loved watching old movies, was a fan of vintage cars, a crossword puzzle aficionado, and loved root beer ice cream floats. She even enjoyed them on her recent birthday this past August!

Regina was predeceased by her brothers, Denis Galvin, Jr, and Dean Galvin, and sister, Virginia Galvin Miller.  She leaves her sister, Kathlyn Smith, of Spring Lake, N.J., and Jeannette Smith, of Cranford, NJ.

We would like to acknowledge Regina’s close New Jersey friends, Jean Carroll, Claire Kuhn, and Beth Hamilton.  They were very special to her.

The staff at Good Sam’s Retirement Village and the adjacent Allure Nursing Center have been outstanding. They were Regina’s second family - kind, loving, and nurturing, treated her like gold and are truly both angels and healthcare heroes.  Special gratitude goes to Jane, Marie, Renata, and Cindy and the entire Allure team.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, October 17th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. James Church in Middletown, NJ, with burial alongside her husband at Mt. Olivet Cemetery immediately following. The John Day Funeral Home in Redbank, NJ oversees arrangements, assisted by Vandemore Funeral Homes and Crematory in Geneseo, IL.
