Rex was born on April 27, 1951, the son of Rex Robert and Doris (Carter) Rogers, in Rock Island, IL.  He graduated from Sherrard High School, class of 1969, and then earned an associate’s degree in Electronics from Black Hawk College.  He married Sandra Hudders on April 29, 1972, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  He was employed by JI Case and Case New Holland as a machinist/CNC operator.  He served as a union steward for JI Case.  Rex also worked at Litton Instruments & Life Support for 8 years and at Becks and the Geneseo Superwash.  He was an avid fisherman, loved golfing, and was an enthusiastic Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeye Fan.  He coached Little League for his children and was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, St. Malachy Holy Name, Geneseo Moose Lodge, and Isaac Walton.  He was a 5-time cancer survivor and met those challenges without complaint.  Rex loved his family and enjoyed his children’s sporting and choir events, being outdoors, and his flower garden.  He especially loved going on cruises and vacations with the Central Bank Classic Club.  A few other favorites of Rex were rock and roll, Crown Royal, and his Thursday morning breakfast group.  Rex was a sweet, spirited, compassionate man who lived life to its fullest and is forever the family hero.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandy Rogers of Geneseo; daughter, Stacey (Danny Schultz) Wiltermood of Geneseo; son, Scott Rogers of East Moline, IL; and grandchild, Avan Wiltermood.
