Richard "Dick" Edwards

Richard “Dick” K. Edwards, 77, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Unity Point-Trinity in Rock Island, IL. Funeral services will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Geneseo, IL. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jeff French will officiate. A luncheon will follow. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4-7 pm at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Henry County Historical Museum in Bishop Hill.

Dick was born on March 13, 1944, the son of Glenn "Dutch" and Mildred "Millie" (Carpenter) Edwards in Glendale, CA. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1962 and continued his education at Black Hawk College. Dick was a Manufacturing Engineer Manager at Hyster, and then Gemvision in Davenport, IA for many years. He married Carol L. Floming on August 3, 1963, in Atkinson, IL, she passed November 17, 1994. He later married Kathy Baumgardner in Kewanee, IL, on October 2, 1999.

Dick was active in the Kewanee Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and was also a member of the Geneseo Faith Baptist Church where he held the position of Treasurer for many years. He was also the President of the Henry County Historical Museum in Bishop Hill, IL. Dick had many hobbies. He enjoyed sprint car racing, shooting guns, and he especially loved his duties as the Head Photographer for S.T.O.R.M. Racing. Dick loved his family, and always enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s various activities. He loved his dog Kelly.

Dick is survived by his wife, Kathy of Geneseo, IL; sons, Keith (Jenny Lang) Edwards of Kewanee, IL, Rob Baumgardner (Kathleen Rose) of Geneseo, IL, Troy Baumgardner (Terri Stone) of Kewanee, IL, Tom (Lisa) Baumgardner of Geneseo, IL; daughters, Sandy (Robert) Brannock of Warrenton, MO, Kim (John) Hawkins of Brooklyn, IA; grandchildren, Conner J. (Rhiannon) Brannock, Brendan R. (Doria) Brannock, Brittany L. (Corey Kincaid) Edwards, Lindsey C. Edwards, Benjamin D. (Xu Zhou) Hawkins, Daniel L. (Anastasia) Hawksins, Grant A. Baumgardner, Ethan G. Baumgardner, Sylvia M. Baumgardner, Matthew S. Baumgardner, Natalie K. Baumgardner, Camden F. Baumgardner; and two great-grandchildren, Raven R. Hawkins and June V. Hawkins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn "Dutch" and Mildred "Millie" Edwards, and wife, Carol Edwards.
